Minister of Road and Transport B. Delgersaikhan Meets with Chinese Ambassador to Mongolia Mrs. Shen Minjuan. June 20, 2025

Minister of Road and Transport B. Delgersaikhan, member of the Government of Mongolia, met with Her Excellency Shen Minjuan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Mongolia, and her delegation.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the cross-border railway connections of the Gashuunsukhait–Ganqimaodu, Khangi–Mandulal, and Shiveekhuren–Ceke border crossings, as reflected in the “2024–2028 Action Program of the Government of Mongolia.”

They also expressed appreciation for the support and cooperation provided by the Chinese Embassy in Mongolia and Ambassador Mrs. Shen Minjuan in the multi-step official procedures, including successfully organizing the opening ceremony of the cross-border railway construction at the Gashuunsukhait–Ganqimaodu border, signing the construction contract, and officially confirming it, in accordance with the agreements between the governments of Mongolia and China.

The Ministry of Road and Transport formally extended an invitation to Ambassador Mrs. Shen Minjuan to attend the opening ceremony of coal transportation along the Tavantolgoi–Gashuunsukhait railway, scheduled for June 24, 2025, under the intergovernmental agreement between Mongolia and China.

Her Excellency Shen Minjuan expressed her congratulations on the continuation of Minister B. Delgersaikhan’s service in the new government of Mongolia. She also expressed her satisfaction that conditions have been established for implementing the “Joint Declaration on the Development of Comprehensive Partnership between the Governments of Mongolia and the People’s Republic of China,” approved by the heads of state in 2014, and that a strategically important project, the construction of the cross-border railway, has begun to be realized.

She emphasized that this construction project is a clear manifestation of the growing relations and cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the sectors of transport, infrastructure, and the economy, and that she will actively support the stable development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Moreover, she indicated that if this cross-border railway project is successfully implemented, she will also support the phased railway connections of other border crossings, including Shiveekhuren–Ceke, Khangi–Mandulal, and Bichigt–Zu’engadabuqi.

On the Mongolian side, it was highlighted that while implementing the phased connection of border crossings via railway and highway to develop the transport sector and border infrastructure, special attention must also be paid to increasing cargo flows and trade turnover at certain border points.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Ambassador Mrs. Shen Minjuan officially confirmed her participation in the opening ceremony of coal transportation along the Tavantolgoi–Gashuunsukhait railway.
